The Material Story

Looks like a cap. Warms like a beanie.

The Warm One Cap looks like a traditional six-panel ballcap — classic twill, structured front, 3D-embroidered logo, mid-height crown — because that's exactly what it is. The difference is hidden inside: a thick sherpa fleece liner, the same stuff used in premium winter mid-layers, that turns a fall accessory into real cold-weather gear.

The team colors are exact, the logo is officially licensed and 3D-embroidered, and the hook-and-loop backstrap adjusts from 6 7/8 to 7 5/8. We built it because we wanted a cold-weather hat we'd actually wear in public, and the only honest answer was a ballcap with a secret. No ear flaps. No pom-poms. No tradeoffs.

The Backstory

Let's talk about ear flaps

The Warm One Insulated Cap didn’t start out as a baseball cap. We knew we wanted a cold-weather hat in the BCKR line, so we set out to make one with warm ear flaps that we would consider wearing in public.

After reviewing dozens of samples and design renderings, I’m here to announce that making ear-flap hats look cool is an impossible task. Kyle Broflovski may be the only one who can pull these off. I know what you’re thinking: what about Elmer Fudd? Take another look at old Elmer and you’ll see that even he was nearly exclusively flaps-up.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you buy.

Why wear a fleece-lined ballcap instead of a beanie?

A beanie keeps your head warm by giving you full coverage. The Warm One Cap solves that with a different approach. It’s a structured ballcap with a thick sherpa fleece liner hidden inside, so you get real cold-weather warmth across the top of your head without giving up the brim, the structure, or the look of a hat with a brim so you keep the sun out of your eyes and the team logo front and center. Pair it with a hood or zip your jacket up to the chin if you need ear coverage, and you’ve got full warmth.

How warm is it really?

Warm enough that you’ll forget you’re standing out in the cold. The interior liner is the same sherpa fleece used in premium winter mid-layers, the kind of material that traps body heat efficiently across the top of your head where you lose the most warmth. It’s not the same as a thick beanie pulled down over your ears, but it’s a meaningful upgrade over any standard team ballcap and warm enough for late-fall and winter games on its own.

Is the Warm One Cap waterproof?

No, this one’s built for cold, not wet. If you need waterproof, the Dry One Cap is the answer. If you need both, wear the Warm One Cap under the Dry One Jacket’s hood when the weather turns ugly.

Is BCKR officially licensed by Texas?

Yes. Every Texas Longhorns product is officially licensed through The University of Texas. The logos, colors, and trademarks are all authorized. We use exact Pantone color matching, not approximations, for every piece. We also donate 10% of Texas product sales to support student athletes. BCKR isn’t a brand that licenses some logos. We’re a brand committed to making gear at the standard Longhorn fans expect.

Does the Warm One Cap cost more than other team hats?

The price difference is small. The functionality difference is huge. The Warm One Cap has a sherpa fleece liner that turns it into real cold-weather gear. It’s the difference between a hat that looks the part and a hat that does the job. If you’re going to wear one ballcap to a cold game at DKR or a winter trip out of state, this is the one to wear.

Will it fit my head?

How big’s your head? The hook-and-loop backstrap adjusts from hat size 6 7/8 to 7 5/8, which covers most adult heads. The crown has a structured front and a mid-height profile, so it sits like a traditional ballcap rather than slouching.

Is the Warm One Cap just for gamedays?

Heck no. The Warm One Cap is the ballcap we’d want for cold morning hunts, ski trips out west, winter dog walks, and standing on the sideline at our kid’s soccer game in November. The color is burnt orange. The construction is premium outdoor. We built this so your team hat could also be the best cold-weather ballcap you own, not something that lives at the bottom of your closet between Saturdays.

How does the Warm One Cap fit with the rest of the BCKR system?

BCKR builds gear as a system, designed to work together head-to-toe. The Warm One Cap pairs with the Warm One Jacket for full cold-weather coverage. The Dry One Cap is the rain counterpart, a structured ballcap built from the same waterproof membrane as the Dry One Jacket. The Cool One Bucket Hat handles sun and heat. Pick the hat that matches the day, or own all three and be ready for anything Texas throws at you.

Is the logo embroidered or printed?

It’s a high definition embroidery. The Warm One Cap is built on traditional twill, the same material used in premium ballcaps across the outdoor and sporting worlds, and embroidery is the right application for that kind of construction. The stitching is tight and dimensional, with the school’s exact colors rendered cleanly across every detail of the logo. There’s nothing to peel, crack, or fade because the logo is part of the fabric, not applied on top of it.
