★★★★★
“Premium fit and finish. Looks and wears great. You can feel the quality as soon as you put it on. I was skeptical of the cooling tech at first, but it's really noticeable and makes a huge difference for someone who runs hot like me. 10/10 would buy again.”
A Closer Look
One pullover, two fabrics, comfort from 60 to 90 degrees.
The Cool One is a technological wonder. The novel union of cooling brrr° fabrics with ultra breathable Toray® Dot Air materials delivers a half-zip pullover unlike any other. brrr° is a patented cooling textile that actively pulls heat off your skin. Toray DotAir is an ultra-breathable grid mesh that is the best in its class. Both are used exclusively by the world’s top performance apparel makers. We’re the first to put them in fan gear. As a pair, they deliver full 50+ UPF coverage with airflow you can feel — cool when the sun's blazing, comfortable when the temperature drops.
The zippers are made by YKK, also the best in the game. Where other brands look to cut costs by using cheaper options, we invest in materials that are built to perform and last. That’s the difference between the gear you reluctantly pull out of the back of the closet on game day and the BCKR gear you’ll reach for every day.

The Backstory
A jacket in the summer?
I grew up in the pleasantly temperate Pacific Northwest, which left me completely ill-suited for the too-hot-to-think summers of my adopted Texas home. And truth be told, I tend to run warm even in mild weather.
So while the first two jackets in the initial BCKR line were born out of frustration with how poorly my team merch stood up to serious rain and cold, the Cool One came from a different need: something to keep me cool and protected from the sun every day from March through October.
Before you buy.
When would I wear the Cool One vs. a regular sun shirt?
The Cool One does what a sun shirt does, but better, and with greater everyday versatility. It’s UPF 50+, the highest sun protection rating available in apparel, with full head-neck-arms coverage. But it’s built like a real piece of outdoor gear, not a sheer base layer. Wear it to a September game at Beaver Stadium when the sun’s blazing over Happy Valley. Wear it on the boat, on the golf course, on a hot afternoon hike. It’s the perfect pullover for long plane rides where temperatures shift and airflow matters. Then wear it to the office on Monday. Most sun shirts are too thin to leave the skiff. The Cool One isn’t.
Is the Cool One a good White Out option?
It might be the best White Out pullover ever made. Most fans wearing white to a September White Out are stuck choosing between a plain cotton tee that soaks through in the first quarter and a basic performance polo that doesn’t do much for the actual heat. The Cool One is neither. It’s a real UPF 50+ sun layer built from brrr° cooling fabric and Toray DotAir, so it actively lowers your skin temperature while blocking the sun overhead. It’s officially licensed with the Penn State logo so your pride is always on the outside, cut like real performance apparel, and constructed like something you’d wear long after the White Out is over. Show up looking sharp, feeling cool, and dressed right for the ultimate crowd shot.
Does the Cool One actually keep you cool?
Yes, and you feel it the second you put it on. The Cool One uses brrr°, a patented cooling fabric that actively lowers your skin temperature on contact. It’s not a marketing claim about “moisture-wicking” or “breathability.” It’s a measurable temperature drop you can feel. We paired the brrr° fabric with Toray DotAir, an ultra-breathable fabric used in elite performance apparel, so airflow moves through the pullover while the cooling tech does its job. Cool when it’s blazing. Comfortable when it isn’t.
Is BCKR officially licensed by Penn State?
Yes. Every Penn State Nittany Lions product is officially licensed through The Pennsylvania State University. The logos, colors, and trademarks are all authorized. We use exact Pantone color matching, not approximations, for every piece. We also donate 10% of Penn State product sales to support student athletes. BCKR isn’t a brand that licenses some logos. We’re a brand committed to making gear at the standard Penn State fans expect.
Why is BCKR’s Penn State gear more expensive than other Nittany Lions pullovers?
Different product entirely. Most team pullovers use basic poly-cotton blends and call it a day. They’re fine for what they are. The Cool One uses brrr° cooling fabric, Toray DotAir, and a YKK zipper (best in the industry) for the half-zip. These are the same materials in a $200 sun hoodie from a top fishing brand or cooling layer from a premium golf company. But you’ve never seen them in Penn State white designed for a White Out. The best comparison isn’t a $50 fan pullover. It’s outdoor gear that happens to come in Penn State’s exact Pantone color, built for the biggest gameday tradition in college football.
Does BCKR make the Cool One for women or in kids’ sizes?
All BCKR jackets use unisex sizing ranging from XXS to 3XL. Women typically go down one size. A Men’s/Unisex Small fits like a Women’s Medium. The Cool One is designed with an athletic fit, with the expectation it’ll be worn over a t-shirt. If you prefer a looser fit, order one size up. A lot of our customers are women, and the fit feedback has been great. Women’s-specific cuts are on our roadmap. We don’t currently offer kids’ sizes.
Is the Cool One just for gamedays?
Heck no. The Cool One is a real UPF sun layer built for hot weather and beyond. People wear it on the river, on the golf course, on the boat, and on the trail. The color is Penn State white. The construction is premium outdoor. We built this so your team gear could also be the best sun layer you own, not something that sits in your closet between Saturdays.
Can I wash the Cool One? Does the cooling tech wear off?
Yes, machine wash cold, tumble dry low or line dry. The brrr° cooling technology is built into the fabric at the yarn level, not a topical coating, so it doesn’t wash out. The cooling effect on day one is the cooling effect on day 200. Wash it like you’d wash any premium performance layer and it’ll keep doing its job.
Why haven’t I heard of BCKR before?
We’re an independent brand, no corporate parent, no Super Bowl ads yet. We were founded by outdoor industry veterans, including the team that helped scale YETI from a regional cooler company into a global brand. We’re based in Austin, we ship every order ourselves, and we include a handwritten note in every package. We started BCKR because fans of major college programs had no real outdoor gear in their team’s colors. They had souvenir jackets that didn’t perform and premium outdoor gear that didn’t represent. So we made the gear that should have existed all along. You’re hearing about us now because the word is getting out.
