The Material Story

A ballcap. Done right.

The Classic Cap is a traditional six-panel ballcap: classic twill, structured front, 3D-embroidered logo, mid-height crown. There's no hidden liner and no clever twist. It's the cap you've worn your whole life, built the way it should have been all along. Spring practice, the back nine, a lake weekend, a September kickoff in full sun, the Classic Cap is there for you.

The team colors are exact, the logo is officially licensed and 3D-embroidered, and the hook-and-loop backstrap adjusts from 6 7/8 to 7 5/8. We'll be honest: there's nothing revolutionary about a twill ballcap. That's the point. Most of them are made like an afterthought. Ours is made to last.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you buy.

A ballcap is a ballcap. Why this one?

Fair question. We'll be honest: there's nothing revolutionary about a twill ballcap. The difference is in the details most team hats skip — a buckram backer that keeps the front panel standing tall instead of caving in after one season, a Turbo Dry sweatband that pulls moisture off your forehead, raised 3D embroidery instead of a flat patch, and colors matched to Oregon's exact Pantone spec (PMS 356 C green, no guesswork). Most ballcaps are made like an afterthought. Ours is made to last.

What's the difference between the Classic Cap and the Warm One Cap?

One thing: the liner. The Warm One Cap hides a sherpa fleece liner for cold-weather days. The Classic Cap leaves it out. Same six-panel twill body, same structured front, same 3D-embroidered logo, same mid-height crown — just lighter and more breathable, so it earns its keep when the temperature climbs. Headed to a late-season night game at Autzen? Grab the Warm One. For pretty much everything else, this is the one.

Can I wear it on a warm day?

Absolutely. With no liner, the twill body breathes, the Turbo Dry sweatband handles the sweat, and the brim keeps the sun out of your eyes through a cloudless August afternoon in Eugene (they happen). Want full coverage — ears, neck, the works? The Cool One Bucket Hat, with UPF 50+ protection and maximum breathability, is the move.

Is the Classic Cap waterproof?

No. Twill breathes, which is exactly what you want on a hot day, but it isn't a rain shell — and in Oregon, you'll want one. When storms roll in, the Dry One Cap is the answer — a structured ballcap built from the same waterproof membrane as the Dry One Jacket.

Is BCKR officially licensed by the University of Oregon?

Yes. Every Oregon Ducks product is officially licensed through the University of Oregon. The logos, colors, and trademarks are all authorized. We use exact Pantone color matching, not approximations, for every piece. We also donate 10% of Oregon product sales to [CONFIRM: the UO Foundation / the UO Business School]. Our founder Corey grew up in Eugene and is an Oregon alum. We don't just license a logo — this is a brand built by Ducks.

Does the Classic Cap cost more than other team hats?

A little. You can find cheaper gear, but we don't think you'll find anything better. The difference shows up over time: a front panel that holds its shape, a sweatband that survives August, embroidery with nothing to peel or crack. Buy the cap once instead of every season.

Will it fit my head?

How big's your head? The hook-and-loop backstrap adjusts from hat size 6 7/8 to 7 5/8, which covers most adult heads. The crown is mid-height — not too tall, not low profile — with a structured front, so it sits like a traditional ballcap rather than slouching.

Is the Classic Cap just for game days?

Heck no. Spring practice, the back nine, a lake weekend, a campus visit, a float down the McKenzie. We built it to be the cap you grab by default — the one that lives by the door, not at the bottom of the closet between Saturdays.

How does the Classic Cap fit with the rest of the BCKR system?

The Classic Cap is the everyday baseline. When the weather turns, the system takes over: the Dry One Cap for rain, the Warm One Cap for cold, the Cool One Bucket Hat for serious sun and heat. Pick the hat that matches the day, or own the lineup and be ready for anything Oregon throws at you.

Why does BCKR use the UO logo instead of the O?

First off, we love the interlocking UO. That was the mark on the side of the helmet for Terry Obee's end around, Musgrave to Ferry, and Kenny Wheaton's world rocker — our Duck founder's childhood memories. But the reason we don't use the O, which we also love, is because we can't. There's a company up in Beaverton that has exclusive rights to that logo on apparel and footwear.

Is the logo embroidered or printed?

Embroidered — in 3D. The interlocking UO is stitched in raised, dimensional thread on traditional twill, with Oregon's exact colors rendered cleanly across every detail. There's nothing to peel or crack, because the logo is part of the cap, not stuck on top of it.

How do I care for it?

Hand wash cold and line dry. No bleach. No iron (who irons hats?). And skip the dishwasher, whatever the internet tells you.
