★★★★★
“Premium fit and finish. Looks and wears great. You can feel the quality as soon as you put it on. I was skeptical of the cooling tech at first, but it's really noticeable and makes a huge difference for someone who runs hot like me. 10/10 would buy again.”
A Closer Look
One pullover, two fabrics, comfort from 60 to 90 degrees.
The Cool One is a technological wonder. The novel union of cooling brrr° fabrics with ultra breathable Toray® Dot Air materials delivers a half-zip pullover unlike any other. brrr° is a patented cooling textile that actively pulls heat off your skin. Toray DotAir is an ultra-breathable grid mesh that is the best in its class. Both are used exclusively by the world’s top performance apparel makers. We’re the first to put them in fan gear. As a pair, they deliver full 50+ UPF coverage with airflow you can feel — cool when the sun's blazing, comfortable when the temperature drops.
The zippers are made by YKK, also the best in the game. Where other brands look to cut costs by using cheaper options, we invest in materials that are built to perform and last. That’s the difference between the gear you reluctantly pull out of the back of the closet on game day and the BCKR gear you’ll reach for every day.

The Backstory
A jacket in the summer?
I grew up in the pleasantly temperate Pacific Northwest, which left me completely ill-suited for the too-hot-to-think summers of my adopted Texas home. And truth be told, I tend to run warm even in mild weather.
So while the first two jackets in the initial BCKR line were born out of frustration with how poorly my team merch stood up to serious rain and cold, the Cool One came from a different need: something to keep me cool and protected from the sun every day from March through October.
Before you buy.
When would I wear the Cool One vs. a regular sun shirt?
The Cool One does what a sun shirt does, but better, and with greater everyday versatility. It’s UPF 50+, the highest sun protection rating available in apparel, with full head-neck-arms coverage. But it’s built like a real piece of outdoor gear, not a thin base layer. The brrr° cooling fabric actively lowers your skin temperature on contact, and the Toray DotAir knit moves air through the pullover constantly. Wear it on the boat, on the golf course, or on the sidelines at a summer ballgame. It’s the perfect pullover for long plane rides where temperatures shift and airflow matters. Then wear it to the office on Monday. Most sun shirts are too thin to leave the skiff. The Cool One isn’t.
Who is the BCKR Core line for?
Anyone who wants the same outdoor-grade gear we build for fans of major college programs, without the school colors and logos. The Core line is for people who love what BCKR makes but aren’t a fan of one of our partner schools, or who want a clean, unbranded version of the pullover for everyday outdoor use. Same brrr° cooling fabric. Same Toray DotAir knit. Same YKK half-zip. The only difference is the colors and the absence of a school mark.
Can BCKR Core pullovers be customized for teams, groups, or companies?
Yes. We take custom orders for teams, organizations, and corporate customers who want BCKR gear with their own logo or branding. Same brrr° cooling construction, same Toray DotAir fabric, same premium build, just with your mark in place of ours. It’s a great fit for golf events, corporate retreats, club teams, outdoor guides and outfitters, or any group that wants a real performance sun layer instead of a basic embroidered polo. Visit our custom orders page at bckr.com/pages/custom-orders for minimums, timelines, and to start a conversation about your project.
Does the Cool One actually keep you cool?
Yes, and you feel it the second you put it on. The Cool One uses brrr°, a patented cooling fabric that actively lowers your skin temperature on contact. It’s not a marketing claim about “moisture-wicking” or “breathability.” It’s a measurable temperature drop you can feel. We paired the brrr° fabric with Toray DotAir, an ultra-breathable fabric used in elite performance apparel, so airflow moves through the pullover while the cooling tech does its job. Cool when it’s blazing. Comfortable when it isn’t.
How does the Cool One compare to a premium outdoor brand’s sun hoodie?
Spec for spec, it stands up. The brrr° cooling fabric is patented technology used in elite performance apparel across fishing, golf, and outdoor categories. The Toray DotAir knit is the same kind of ultra-breathable fabric you’d find in a high-end sun hoodie from a top outdoor brand. The YKK half-zip is industry standard for performance pullovers. We built the Cool One to the same standard as the sun layers we’d buy ourselves, and we priced it where we did because that’s what real outdoor gear costs to make. If you’ve owned a premium sun hoodie before, you already know what you’re getting.
Does BCKR make the Cool One for women or in kids’ sizes?
All BCKR jackets use unisex sizing ranging from XXS to 3XL. Women typically go down one size. A Men’s/Unisex Small fits like a Women’s Medium. The Cool One is designed with an athletic fit, with the expectation it’ll be worn over a t-shirt. If you prefer a looser fit, order one size up. A lot of our customers are women, and the fit feedback has been great. Women’s-specific cuts are on our roadmap. We don’t currently offer kids’ sizes.
What’s the Cool One built for?
Hot weather, sun exposure, and the days where you want sun protection without sacrificing comfort. The Cool One is built like a piece of technical outerwear, which means it works the same way a premium sun hoodie or cooling layer works: it blocks UV, lowers your skin temperature, and breathes constantly. People wear it on the boat, on the golf course, on a hot afternoon hike, on long flights, and just outside on a summer day. The colors are Onyx Black, Royal Blue, Burgundy Red, and Pewter Grey. The construction is premium outdoor. It’s the sun layer you reach for when the sun’s out.
Can I wash the Cool One? Does the cooling tech wear off?
Yes, machine wash cold, tumble dry low or line dry. The brrr° cooling technology is built into the fabric at the yarn level, not a topical coating, so it doesn’t wash out. The cooling effect on day one is the cooling effect on day 200. Wash it like you’d wash any premium performance layer and it’ll keep doing its job.
How does the Cool One fit with the rest of the BCKR system?
BCKR builds gear as a system, three jackets for three conditions. The Cool One is the warm-weather piece, a UPF sun layer with brrr° cooling for hot, sunny days. The Dry One is a Toray three-layer waterproof shell for rain. The Warm One is a PrimaLoft-insulated jacket for cold weather. Each one stands alone. Together, they’re a complete outerwear system for almost any condition.
Why haven’t I heard of BCKR before?
We’re an independent brand, no corporate parent, no Super Bowl ads yet. We were founded by outdoor industry veterans, including the team that helped scale YETI from a regional cooler company into a global brand. We’re based in Austin, we ship every order ourselves, and we include a handwritten note in every package. We started BCKR because we couldn’t find a single piece of team gear that performed like real outdoor gear, so we built it. Then we built a Core line for people who want the same standard of construction without the licensing. You’re hearing about us now because the word is getting out.
