This bear hug of a jacket is packed with thoughtful tech – like hearty PrimaLoft Gold Active+ insulation that keeps you toasty even when wet, front and rear pockets for hand warmers to supercharge your staying power, and game day features like a lens wipe and rear storage pocket.

Product Overview

The Warm One Insulated Jacket is your go-to companion for fall and winter “football weather.” It’s the warmest jacket in the BCKR lineup — built for serious heat without the overstuffed marshmallow look. That’s thanks to elite PrimaLoft® Gold Active+ insulation, strategically mapped to deliver 100g of warmth to your core and 60g to the parts that need to move — your arms. Add in premium YKK zippers and durable Toray ripstop fabrics, and you’ve got a winter coat that can go toe-to-toe with anything in the outdoor industry. While The Warm One features a PFAS-free DWR coating to repel water, it also layers seamlessly with The Dry One if conditions turn cold and wet.

Is it really better?

PrimaLoft. Toray. YKK. These elite materials brands are signals of quality in ski and hunting jackets, but you’ve never seen them combined like this in officially licensed team gear. If those names don’t mean much to you, here’s the quick rundown: PrimaLoft Gold Active+ is a premium synthetic insulation that delivers serious warmth without the bulk. And unlike down, it keeps working even when wet. The Toray ripstop nylon on the exterior is built for durability and movement, while the liner is soft and snuggly like your favorite blanket. YKK makes the best zippers in the game. If you’ve ever had a jacket zipper fail, you know why that matters. There are other BCKR-only touches in this jacket, but it’s the materials that set it apart. They cost a little more, but you’ll appreciate the difference when the mercury drops and you’re still standing strong.

Fit + Sizing

The Warm One is fitted true to size, and has a little bit of stretch. It can also be layered underneath a Dry One of the same size to form a system. For instance, if you typically wear a size large and wore both the Warm One and Dry One in large, they would fit together nicely. All of our jackets are marked with unisex / men’s sizing. To convert to women’s sizing please refer to the conversion chart here. Please refer our size chart for specific size measurements.

Who is BCKR?

BCKR is an independent apparel brand founded by diehard sports fans who spent their careers in the outdoor industry and were disappointed that the quality and performance of fan gear didn't live up to the same standards as that of the top ski, hunting, and fishing brands. Our headquarters are in Austin, Texas, and we have team members in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, and Virginia.

Every time you purchase a Longhorns + BCKR product on bckr.com, we commit 10% of product sales to support University of Texas student-athletes.

Pillowy soft to the touch and plenty warm in low 30 degree weather. I'm usually the kind of person that sheds a jacket as soon as I enter a building because I don't feel comfortable in a bulky jacket. This feels more like a hoody indoors and I found myself leaving it on and never felt uncomfortable and didn't overheat.

Product features

A jacket for football weather

The Warm One was inspired by countless cold-cold November games, when my shirt, hoodie and “officially licensed” jacket felt about as insulating as tissue paper. When I had to consider if I wanted to subject my fingers to the wind chill just to clap for a first down on our own 35. (A “wooo” would suffice.) This jacket was inspired by all bowl games attended north of NOLA. By winter walks to and from the basketball arena. By the frigid fall games of my Pacific Northwest childhood and by my current Texas brethren who are reluctant to leave the house when it’s below 60.

When we created BCKR, I knew we needed a great warm coat in our lineup. And as much as I love the shiny satin jackets of my youth, we wanted something that looks great and really stands up to the elements. The traditional down-filled puffy is a classic, but I always feel like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man when I throw that on. And when you’re wearing natural down in a downpour, you’re not having a good time. So this jacket was built, literally, from the inside out. We started with the insulation – PrimaLoft’s best, a lightweight synthetic that warms like down, just without the bulk or the sponge-like absorption.

For the next layers, I wanted to replicate the soft, snug fit of the hoodies I love to wear (yes, even in the ninety-degree Texas heat). So the inner liner is a smooth Toray fabric that just feels nice. Equally comfortable is the ripstop nylon, also from Toray, that we selected for the outer layer. It has a little stretch to it and looks super clean.

We’ve also stuffed this coat with thoughtful features, including my personal favorite: the two extra pockets for hand warmers we’ve snuck into in the rear liner, positioned right by your kidneys to warm your core. When fully loaded, along with the two hand warmer pouches inside the front pockets, this jacket reminds me of the cozy electric blankets that got me through cold nights as a kid.

That’s the Warm One. A toasty jacket for cold-cold days.

    Nice Coat

The coat arrived timely and is very comfortable. It seems to be made with good quality. I am not sure if this will be warm enough for November games but we will find out. See you at The Shoe!

    Best winter jacket I’ve seen

I’ve been wearing Patagonia for twenty years. This is the first piece of fan gear I’ve ever owned that didn’t feel like a compromise.

nice jacket. a few tweaks needed.

the fit is good. 1) i was expecting or hoping it would be more insulated like a true parka for cold gsme days in november/december. 2) thebfit around the wristbands snug 3)the screen printed logo on the chest is cheap. looks like it will come off after a few washings. an embroidered or glued on heavy duty plastic or silicone logo would be a nice upgrade.

Hi Darin! I hope you're enjoying your coat. Thanks for taking the time to write this review. You seem to know your gear, so I thought I'd respond to your comments. I'm the founder of BCKR and made all of the product decisions, so I appreciate the opportunity to engage with knowledgeable users.

    • I'm glad you like the fit once we dialed in the right size.
    • In terms of the bulk of the insulation, I would give it a couple runs before you evaluate if it's warm enough. This insulation, PrimaLoft Gold Active Plus, is specifically designed to give you the warmth without the big bulk, which is what I personally prefer. It's got 100g of insulation throughout, which is pretty beefy even though it doesn't look huge. I wore this coat to the James Madison playoff game, which dipped down to the low '40s, and the pre-dawn GameDay before the USC game that was in the high 30s, and I was perfectly warm at both. It also has two pouches for handwarmers inside the hand pockets and two that sit behind your kidneys in the back liner to really charge the jacket if you end up in sub-freezing temps. Our team regularly wears this jacket in Colorado in the '20s comfortably.
    • Noted on the wrist bands. That's a technique called "ladder bonding" that does a great job of keeping in warmth without the snags and hassles of velcro straps, but it can feel a little restrictive, especially if you're wearing a watch.
    • Regarding the logo application, we tested every possible embellishment technique, including embroidery, patches, silicone, and others. One reason we stay away from embroidery and patches is because the stitching creates points of weakness for the water repellency. That's a little less of an issue on the Warm One than our fully sealed waterproof coat, the Dry One, but the Warm One does have a (PFAS-free) Durable Water Repellent coating on it that will bead water on your coat. I also don't love how embroidery of a heavy logo like the UO tends to bunch the fabric a bit. We'll keep working that. We tested the heck out of the screen printing that we use and have never seen an issue of it fading or coming off. I admittedly don't wash the Warm One much, but our Cool One pullover uses the same application technique and I've washed it many dozens of times along with everything else in my laundry and it shows no sign of fading or coming off. I basically wear a Cool One every day -- I live in Austin, Texas so it's perfect for this climate. I don't think we'd consider anything with glue, which is certain to fail over time. The silicone that we use on the clear wrist logo is cool and also permanent, but we found it difficult to get the school colors right with that material. So we screen print them at the factory which was the best we've found so far, but we'll continue to test alternatives.
    • Sorry for the long-winded response (which you didn't ask for). As you can probably tell I'm pretty passionate about this. I would love your ongoing feedback as you use the products. -Corey
